Their event is supposed to take place on the 14th
of June, according to the invite put up on their site. And people have high
hopes for the next releases of their operating systems. In this article, we’re
going to go through major changes to iOS and macOS.
iOS 16
iOS is expected to get a massive design overhaul this year. It
is rumoured that the Control Centre is getting a refresh, with a new design that
makes the main toggles, larger and more like individual tiles, reminds me of what
Xiaomi did with their Notification Shade. There’s a larger Now Playing widget,
which is more interactive, and allows us to scrub through a track. It features
a larger album artwork tile, and changes colour based on the album art.
Apple is also going to offer a fresh pack of widgets, which
can resize below the 2X2 format, and can apparently scale down to 2X1 or 1X2.
Other than that, we’re supposed to get interactive widgets, for example: Being
able to toggle Cellular right from a widget or being able to complete reminders
right from the widget.
Apple is also apparently going to add Split-View, a feature
that power users have been requesting for years, but to no avail, up till now.
macOS 13: Mammoth
From what we know, there’s a proper render available on 9to5Mac’s
site, which looks somewhat like what Concept Maker Avdan had framed in one of
his videos. From this render, we can say that macOS 13 is also having a big
overhaul of the User Interface Design. Corners are more rounded, and there is a
new floating menu bar design, which might fix the issue of menu bar items going
under the notch, on the 2021 MacBook Pro. There is a new Spotlight Search bar,
and it looks like they’ve added the ability to put widgets at a place of
choice. There are app folders in the dock, a feature I’d really appreciate
because if you’ve been following me lately, I’ve had a messy dock all the time.
For example, here’s what my dock looked like last year:
